  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup grated cheddar cheese (plus extra for topping)
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup frozen peas (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
  • In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add flour and stir to form a paste.
  • Gradually whisk in milk, cooking until the mixture thickens. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Stir in cheddar cheese until melted and smooth.
