  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For the Topping (Optional):

  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup shredded mozzarella or Parmesan

Instructions

  1. Cook the pasta: Boil the spaghetti according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  2. Prepare the sauce: In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add diced onion and sauté until soft. Add minced garlic and mushrooms, cooking until mushrooms are golden and soft.
  3. Make the roux: Stir in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes until lightly browned. Slowly whisk in the chicken broth, followed by the heavy cream, stirring constantly until the sauce thickens.
  4. Add seasonings: Stir in the sour cream, mozzarella, Parmesan, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, salt, and pepper. Cook until the cheeses are melted and the sauce is smooth.
  5. Assemble the dish: Preheat oven to 350°F. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked spaghetti, shredded chicken, and sauce. Transfer to a greased baking dish.
  6. Add the topping: (Optional) Sprinkle breadcrumbs and extra mozzarella or Parmesan cheese on top.
  7. Bake: Bake for 25-30 minutes or until bubbly and golden on top. Serve hot.
