These flaky apple pie bars feature a buttery crust, a warm spiced apple filling, and a crumbly topping. A delicious twist on classic apple pie, they are easy to make and perfect for any dessert table.

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 cups apples, peeled and diced
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking dish with parchment paper.
  • In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, and salt. Cut in butter until crumbly. Press two-thirds of the mixture into the pan for the crust.
  • In another bowl, toss apples with brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, cornstarch, and lemon juice. Spread over the crust.
  • Sprinkle remaining dough mixture over the apples as a crumble topping.
  • Bake for 40–45 minutes until golden brown. Cool before slicing.

Notes

  • Use Granny Smith or Honeycrisp apples for the best flavor.
  • Let the bars cool completely before cutting to keep their shape.
  • Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
