Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 1/4 cup plain yogurt
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or melted butter
  • 1 tsp garlic (optional)

 

  • Fresh cilantro or parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  • In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, and baking soda.
  • Add warm water, yogurt, and olive oil, then knead into a soft dough.
  • Cover and let the dough rest for 1 hour.
  • Divide into small balls and roll each into an oval or round shape.
  • Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and cook naan for 1-2 minutes on each side until bubbly and golden.

 

  • Brush with melted butter or garlic butter and garnish with herbs if desired.

Notes

  • For extra softness, use whole milk yogurt.
  • Add minced garlic or herbs for extra flavor.

 

  • Best served warm with butter or alongside curries.
