For the Dough

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water (110°F)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

For the Sauce

  • 1 can (15 ounces) tomato sauce
  • 1 can (6 ounces) tomato paste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For the Toppings

  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional, for extra flavor)
  • Pepperoni slices
  • Sliced bell peppers
  • Sliced onions
  • Sliced mushrooms
  • Olives
  • Fresh basil leaves (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough:
    1. In a large bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
    2. Add flour, salt, and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.
    3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
    4. Place dough in an oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  2. Prepare the Sauce:
    1. In a medium saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat.
    2. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant.
    3. Stir in tomato sauce, tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  3. Assemble the Pizza:
    1. Preheat the oven to 475°F (245°C).
    2. Punch down the dough and roll it out to fit a sheet pan.
    3. Transfer the dough to a lightly oiled sheet pan, stretching to fit.
    4. Spread the sauce evenly over the dough.
    5. Sprinkle mozzarella and cheddar cheese evenly over the sauce.
    6. Add desired toppings: pepperoni, bell peppers, onions, mushrooms, and olives.
  4. Bake:
    1. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.
    2. Garnish with fresh basil leaves before serving.
