Create the perfect base for your homemade pizzas with this simple and reliable pizza dough recipe. Made with all-purpose flour, active dry yeast, and olive oil, this dough is ideal for achieving a crispy and delicious crust every time.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups warm water (110°F)
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast (one packet)
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions

  • In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Stir gently and let sit for about 5-10 minutes until the mixture is frothy.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and olive oil.
  • Stir until the dough begins to come together. Then, transfer it to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours, or until it has doubled in size.
  • Punch down the dough to release air. Divide it into portions if making multiple pizzas. Roll out to your desired thickness and shape.
  • Add your favorite toppings and bake at 475°F (245°C) for 10-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the toppings are cooked.

Notes

For a crispier crust, preheat your baking sheet or pizza stone before adding the dough. This recipe makes enough dough for one large pizza or two medium pizzas.
