  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup dried cherries, chopped
  • 1/4 cup slivered almonds, toasted

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 325ยฐF (165ยฐC).
  • In a large bowl, cream together butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy. Mix in almond extract.
  • Gradually add flour and salt, mixing until well combined.
  • Stir in chopped dried cherries and toasted slivered almonds.
  • Roll dough into 1-inch balls and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Flatten each ball slightly with the bottom of a glass.
  • Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
  • Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
