  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of chicken soup
  • 1/2 cup chopped celery
  • 1/2 cup chopped carrots
  • 1/2 cup chopped onions
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon poultry seasoning (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, spread the shredded chicken evenly on the bottom.
  • Scatter chopped celery, carrots, and onions over the chicken.
  • In a bowl, whisk together self-rising flour, milk, and melted butter. Pour the mixture over the chicken and vegetables (do not stir).
  • In another bowl, whisk together chicken broth, cream of chicken soup, salt, pepper, and poultry seasoning (if using). Pour this mixture over the top (again, do not stir).
  • Bake uncovered for 40-45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and bubbly.
  • Let the casserole rest for 5 minutes before serving.
