  • 6 medium-sized russet potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 ½ cups milk
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon paprika (optional, for garnish)
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour, garlic powder, and onion powder, cooking until bubbly.
  • Gradually whisk in the milk, cooking until the sauce thickens.
  • Remove from heat and stir in 1 ½ cups of shredded cheddar cheese until melted.
  • Layer half of the sliced potatoes in a greased baking dish. Pour half of the cheese sauce over the potatoes. Repeat with the remaining potatoes and cheese sauce.
  • Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove foil, top with the remaining cheese, and bake for an additional 15 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  • Garnish with paprika and fresh parsley before serving.
