Ingredients
Scale
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup pecan halves
2/3 cup unsalted butter
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.
In a medium bowl, combine 2 cups flour and 1 cup brown sugar. Cut in 1/2 cup softened butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Press mixture evenly into the prepared baking pan.
Arrange pecan halves over the crust.
In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt 2/3 cup butter. Stir in 1/2 cup brown sugar, vanilla extract, and salt. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Boil for 1 minute, then pour over the pecans and crust.
Bake for 18-20 minutes or until the edges are lightly browned. Remove from the oven and immediately sprinkle with chocolate chips.
Let the chocolate chips melt for a few minutes, then spread evenly over the caramel layer with a spatula.
Allow the bars to cool completely before cutting into squares.
Notes
For an extra indulgent touch, drizzle additional melted chocolate on top.
