  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined

  • 1 cup buttermilk

  • 1 cup cornstarch

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp paprika

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • Oil for frying

For Firecracker Sauce:

  • 1/3 cup mayonnaise

  • 1/4 cup sweet chili sauce

  • 2 tbsp sriracha (adjust to taste)

  • 1 tbsp honey

  • 1 tsp rice vinegar

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, soak shrimp in buttermilk for 15 minutes.

  2. In another bowl, combine cornstarch, flour, garlic powder, paprika, and salt.

  3. Heat oil in a deep pan to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC).

  4. Dredge shrimp in the flour mixture, then fry in batches until golden brown and crispy. Drain on paper towels.

  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together all sauce ingredients.

  6. Toss fried shrimp in the sauce until evenly coated.

  7. Serve immediately, garnished with green onions or sesame seeds if desired.

Notes

  • Adjust sriracha to control heat level.

  • Can be served as an appetizer or over rice for a meal.

  • Air fryer alternative: cook shrimp at 400ยฐF for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway.
