  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup rice vinegar
  • 3 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch (for sauce)
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp ginger, grated
  • 1/2 tsp red chili flakes (adjust for spice level)
  • 3 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
  • Vegetable oil (for frying)

Instructions

  • Coat chicken pieces in cornstarch, dip in beaten eggs, and fry until crispy. Drain on paper towels.
  • In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, rice vinegar, hoisin sauce, sugar, cornstarch, and 1/4 cup water.
  • Heat sesame oil in a pan. Sauté garlic, ginger, and chili flakes until fragrant.
  • Add sauce mixture and cook until thickened.
  • Toss fried chicken in the sauce until evenly coated.
  • Garnish with green onions and serve hot with rice.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, double fry the chicken.
  • Adjust chili flakes based on your preferred spice level.
