This Grilled Cheese Sloppy Joes recipe offers the best of both worldsโ€”gooey grilled cheese and hearty sloppy joes. Made with seasoned ground beef, onions, ketchup, and mustard, this dish is served between buttery, toasted bread with melted cheddar for a delicious meal. Perfect for family dinners or casual get-togethers!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 cup diced onions
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1 tbsp mustard
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 8 slices of bread
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 8 slices of cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef and onions until browned. Drain excess fat.
  2. Stir in ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5-10 minutes.
  3. Butter one side of each bread slice. Place one slice, buttered side down, in a skillet over medium heat.
  4. Add a slice of cheese, a scoop of the sloppy joe mixture, and another slice of cheese. Top with another slice of bread, buttered side up.
  5. Grill the sandwich until golden brown on both sides and the cheese is melted. Repeat for the remaining sandwiches.

Notes

  • Try using different cheeses like mozzarella or pepper jack for variety.
  • You can make the sloppy joe filling ahead of time and reheat when ready to assemble.
