  • 1 pound ground beef or Italian sausage
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
  • 6 cups chicken or beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 8 ounces lasagna noodles, broken into pieces
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • Fresh basil, for garnish

Instructions

  • In a large pot, brown the ground beef or Italian sausage over medium heat. Drain excess fat.
  • Add diced onion and minced garlic; cook until softened.
  • Stir in tomato paste, cooking for 1-2 minutes.
  • Add crushed tomatoes, broth, Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, and sugar. Bring to a boil.
  • Reduce heat and add lasagna noodles. Simmer until noodles are cooked.
  • Stir in ricotta, mozzarella, and Parmesan cheese until melted.
  • Serve hot, garnished with fresh basil.
