  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 2 cups cooked macaroni
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 1/4 tsp mustard powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix ground beef, diced onion, breadcrumbs, egg, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Press the meat mixture into a greased 9x9-inch casserole dish, forming an even layer for the meatloaf base.
  4. Bake the meatloaf for 20-25 minutes, until partially cooked.
  5. While the meatloaf is baking, prepare the mac and cheese by melting butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir in flour to make a roux, cooking for 1 minute.

  7. Add shredded cheddar cheese to the sauce and stir until melted and creamy.
  8. Combine the cooked macaroni with the cheese sauce.
  9. Remove the meatloaf from the oven and spread the mac and cheese over the top.
  10. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, until the top is golden and bubbly.
  11. Let it sit for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • You can use any type of cheese you prefer, such as Monterey Jack or a blend of cheddar and mozzarella.
  • Add a layer of ketchup or barbecue sauce on top of the meatloaf before adding the mac and cheese for extra flavor.
