For the Meatballs:

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 pound ground pork
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (for frying)

For the Stroganoff Sauce:

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 8 ounces mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Meatballs:
    • In a large bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, chopped onion, minced garlic, egg, milk, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Mix well.
    • Form the mixture into small meatballs.
    • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and fry the meatballs until browned on all sides. Remove and set aside.
  • Make the Stroganoff Sauce:
    • In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add chopped onion and minced garlic, cooking until softened.
    • Add sliced mushrooms and cook until browned.
    • Sprinkle flour over the vegetables, stirring to combine.
    • Gradually add beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, stirring constantly until the sauce thickens.
    • Reduce heat and stir in sour cream and Dijon mustard. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Combine and Serve:
    • Return the meatballs to the skillet, coating them with the sauce.
    • Simmer for a few minutes until meatballs are cooked through.
    • Garnish with fresh chopped parsley and serve hot.

Notes

  • Serve over egg noodles, rice, or mashed potatoes.
  • Adjust seasoning to taste.
