Ingredients

Scale
  • For the Brownie Layer:
    • 1 box brownie mix (or homemade brownies), prepared and cut into cubes
  • For the Peanut Butter Mousse:
    • 1 cup creamy peanut butter
    • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
    • 1 cup powdered sugar
    • 1 ½ cups heavy cream, whipped
  • For the Chocolate Fudge Sauce:
    • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
    • ½ cup heavy cream
  • For the Whipped Cream Layer:
    • 1 ½ cups heavy cream
    • 3 tbsp powdered sugar
    • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • For Garnish:
    • Mini peanut butter cups
    • Chocolate shavings or chocolate chips
    • Crushed peanuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. For the Brownie Layer:
Prepare the brownie mix according to package instructions or make homemade brownies. Once cooled, cut the brownies into bite-sized cubes.
  2. For the Peanut Butter Mousse:
In a large bowl, beat together the peanut butter, softened cream cheese, and powdered sugar until smooth and creamy.
In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Gently fold the whipped cream into the peanut butter mixture until smooth.
  3. For the Chocolate Fudge Sauce:
In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream until it just begins to simmer. Remove from heat and pour over the chocolate chips in a heatproof bowl. Let sit for 2-3 minutes, then stir until smooth and glossy. Allow to cool slightly.
  4. For the Whipped Cream Layer:
In a chilled bowl, beat the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
  5. Assemble the Trifle:
In a trifle dish or individual cups, layer brownie cubes, a layer of peanut butter mousse, a drizzle of chocolate fudge sauce, and whipped cream. Repeat the layers until the dish is full, ending with a whipped cream layer.
  6. For Garnish:
Top with mini peanut butter cups, chocolate shavings, or crushed peanuts as desired. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving.

Notes

  • For a shortcut, use store-bought brownies and fudge sauce.
  • To enhance the peanut flavor, add chopped peanuts between the layers.
