Indulge in a mouthwatering Pizza Grilled Cheese sandwich that combines the best of both worlds: pizza and grilled cheese. Made with your favorite bread, rich pizza sauce, gooey mozzarella, and optional pepperoni, this easy-to-make recipe is perfect for a quick and satisfying meal. Sprinkle with Italian seasoning and garlic powder, and garnish with fresh basil or oregano for an extra burst of flavor.

Ingredients

  • Bread: 8 slices of your favorite bread (sourdough, Italian, or whole wheat work well).
  • Butter: 4 tablespoons, softened.
  • Pizza Sauce: 1 cup.
  • Mozzarella Cheese: 2 cups, shredded.
  • Pepperoni: 1/2 cup, sliced (optional).
  • Italian Seasoning: 1 teaspoon.
  • Garlic Powder: 1/2 teaspoon.
  • Parmesan Cheese: 1/4 cup, grated (optional).
  • Fresh Basil or Oregano: for garnish (optional).

Instructions

  • Preheat a skillet or griddle over medium heat.
  • Spread softened butter on one side of each slice of bread.
  • Place 4 slices of bread, buttered side down, on the skillet.
  • Spread pizza sauce evenly on the unbuttered side of each slice.
  • Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese over the pizza sauce.
  • Add pepperoni slices on top of the cheese if using.
  • Sprinkle Italian seasoning and garlic powder over the toppings.
  • Place the remaining 4 slices of bread on top, buttered side up.
  • Cook until the bottom slice is golden brown and the cheese starts to melt, about 3-4 minutes.
  • Carefully flip each sandwich and cook the other side until golden brown and the cheese is fully melted, about 3-4 minutes more.
  • Sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese and garnish with fresh basil or oregano if desired.
  • Serve immediately.

Notes

  • For a crispier sandwich, use a panini press or grill.
  • Experiment with different cheeses and toppings to suit your taste.
