  • 4 cups seafood or chicken broth
  • 1 can (14 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp chili flakes
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce or fish sauce
  • 1/2 cup coconut milk (optional for a creamy texture)
  • 1 lime, juiced
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Heat olive oil in a pot over medium heat. Add chopped onions and sauté until soft.
  • Stir in garlic, chili flakes, smoked paprika, and cayenne pepper. Cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  • Pour in the broth, diced tomatoes, and soy sauce (or fish sauce). Bring to a boil.
  • Reduce heat and let simmer for 10 minutes. Stir in coconut milk if using.
  • Add shrimp and cook until pink and opaque, about 3-4 minutes.
