Ricotta stuffed shells are a classic Italian dish made with jumbo pasta shells filled with a creamy ricotta mixture, baked in marinara sauce, and topped with melted cheese. This easy and comforting recipe is perfect for family dinners and special occasions.

  • 12 oz jumbo pasta shells
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 3 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Cook the pasta shells according to package instructions; drain and set aside.
  • In a bowl, mix ricotta, mozzarella, Parmesan, egg, parsley, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  • Spread 1 cup of marinara sauce in the bottom of a baking dish.
  • Fill each shell with the ricotta mixture and place them in the dish.
  • Pour the remaining marinara sauce over the shells and sprinkle with Italian seasoning.
  • Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes.
  • Remove foil, sprinkle extra mozzarella on top, and bake for another 10 minutes until cheese melts.
  • Let cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Use fresh basil for extra flavor.
  • Substitute cottage cheese for ricotta if desired.
  • Add spinach or cooked ground beef to the filling for variation.
