  • 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 ยฝ cups long-grain white rice
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1 bell pepper, diced
  • 2 celery stalks, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • ยฝ tsp black pepper
  • ยฝ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • ยฝ lb ground sausage (optional)
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • ยผ cup fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  • In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add onion, bell pepper, and celery, sautรฉ until softened.
  • Stir in garlic, sausage (if using), and seasonings. Cook until sausage is browned.
  • Add rice, stirring to coat with flavors. Pour in chicken broth and Worcestershire sauce.
  • Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low. Cover and simmer for 15 minutes.
  • Add shrimp on top of the rice, cover, and cook for another 5 minutes until shrimp is pink and cooked through.
  • Remove from heat, fluff rice with a fork, and garnish with green onions and parsley. Serve hot!

Notes

  • Adjust spice level by adding more or less cayenne pepper.
  • Swap sausage with ground turkey or omit for a lighter version.
  • Use brown rice but increase cook time accordingly.
