Spaghetti Pasta is a classic Italian dish that combines al dente spaghetti with a rich and flavorful tomato sauce. Perfect for a quick weeknight dinner or a comforting weekend meal, this recipe is simple yet delicious.

  • 8 oz spaghetti
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh basil leaves for garnish

Instructions

  • Cook the spaghetti according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  • Add garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
  • Stir in the crushed tomatoes, oregano, and basil. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Simmer the sauce for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Toss the cooked spaghetti with the sauce until well coated.
  • Serve immediately, topped with grated Parmesan cheese and garnished with fresh basil leaves.

Notes

  • For extra protein, add cooked ground beef or turkey to the sauce.
  • Use whole wheat or gluten-free spaghetti as desired.
