Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 ½ tsp baking powder
  • 1 ½ tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup dark chocolate, melted
  • 1 cup milk chocolate chips
  • ½ cup white chocolate, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla to the dry ingredients and beat on medium speed until smooth.
  4. Stir in the boiling water, then fold in melted dark chocolate.
  5. Divide batter evenly between pans and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Cool cakes in pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
  7. For the ganache frosting, melt milk chocolate chips and pour over cake layers. Garnish with chopped white chocolate.

Notes

  • Ensure your cake cools completely before frosting to prevent melting.
  • You can substitute dark chocolate with semi-sweet if you prefer a less intense flavor.
