Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 12 small corn tortillas
  • 1/2 onion, diced
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)
  • Shredded lettuce (for topping)
  • Grated cheese (for topping)
  • Salsa or pico de gallo (for topping)
  • Sour cream (optional, for serving)

Instructions

  • Heat a skillet over medium heat and sauté the diced onion and garlic until softened.
  • Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spatula. Drain excess fat.
  • Stir in cumin, chili powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Cook for 2-3 more minutes until spices are well incorporated. Set aside.
  • Heat about 1/2 inch of oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Warm the corn tortillas in a separate pan to make them pliable.
  • Place a spoonful of the beef mixture in each tortilla, fold in half, and press gently to seal.
  • Fry the tacos in batches, 2-3 minutes per side, until golden and crispy. Drain on paper towels.
  • Serve with shredded lettuce, cheese, salsa, and sour cream as desired.

Notes

  • Use toothpicks to hold tortillas closed while frying if needed.
  • Ground chicken or turkey can be substituted for beef.
  • For a healthier version, bake the tacos at 400°F for 10-12 minutes instead of frying.
